THE PINNACLES WALK (Ben Boyd Nat. Park)
If it’s a warm day, it may be a good idea to pack a swim suit for this walk! Slowly meander through woodland, forest and a moist gully to find yourself in heaven! The Pinnacles, a strange and amazing formation of colourful clays is the backdrop to pristine waters and a beautiful sandy beach. Ideal for a picnic and a quick dip! The walk can be started from two places (as it is a loop) either from the toilet area which will lead you directly down to the beach or from the other side of the car park (it is sign-posted) where you will pass a beautiful look-out which gives you a birds-eye view of the pinnacles (they are difficult to see from the beach). I would suggest taking the second option as it’s only a short flat walk and you wouldn’t want to miss the view.
Distance: 1 km loop
Time: 30 mins
Level of fitness required: Medium – a flat walk except for the steps leading down to the beach. There is no hand rail.
How to get there: Located in Ben Boyd National Park, access via Haycock Road, off Princes Highway follow the signs for The Pinnacles.

This historically significant beach is nestled on the southern mouth of Pambula River opposite Pambula Beach. This is a great place for a relaxing swim with views across to Pambula Beach and further on to Merimbula. This beach has ample parking and is well sign-posted.
Distance: 0.4 km’s
Time: 15 minutes

How to get there: 3 km’s from Pambula and 10 km’s from Merimbula turn left into Ben Boyd National Park onto Haycock Road. Follow the road for approx. 7 km’s until you see the turn-off for Barmouth Beach.
SEVERS BEACH (Ben Boyd Nat. Park)
This beach is a truly rare find and a particular favourite. Situated in Ben Boyd National Park just adjacent to Barmouth Beach (above) you will need to drive off the beaten track along a bumpy dirt road to access this haven. At the end of the short dirt track is a small car park, from here it is a short stroll through the bush to one of the most beautiful beaches you will ever find. Wait for a clear warm day to truly appreciate this in all its glory. This walk is an easy one, even for toddlers. The bush gives way to a boardwalk which takes down to a huge expanse of beach. To the right and across the water is Pambula River Mouth and to the left the River disappears around a corner. Best when the tide is out, this beach is great for kids to paddle and search for shells whilst having the space to run around and play. Make sure you pack a picnic so you can enjoy the whole day.
Distance:
Time: 15 mins
