Bournda National Park

The Bournda National Park has a superb combination of beaches, creeks, lakes and lagoons with plenty to entice even the most adventurous explorer.  Tracks within the park are well laid out and the signage makes exploring Bournda a pleasure for the whole family.

KIANINNY BAY

Prior to Tathra Wharf, Kianinny Bay was once used as a port for the Bega area for transporting local produce to the city markets. Today, Kianinny Bay is still in use for smaller crafts taking advantage of its protected position and large concrete wharf.  The Bay Kianinny Bay is surrounded on all sides by tall rocky headlands which make this a perfect place to spend a few hours swimming, bush-walking, fishing, diving or relaxing in the sun. There is a small car park, a fish measuring station, cleaning tables, toilets, children’s playground, barbecues and picnic area. It is also a great place to begin your bush-walking adventure with the 9 kilometre Kangarutha Walking Track which starts from the picnic area. The walk twists and turns its way through the Bournda National Park taking you through some beautiful scenery with spectacular views (see Kangarutha Walking Track below).

Directions: Heading into Tathra turn right off the Bega Tathra Road and follow the signs to Kianinny Bay.

Facilities: Toilets, barbecue, children’s playground, ample parking

BOULDER BAY

If you followed the Kangarutha Walking Track (mentioned above in Kianinny Bay) one of the places you would pass through is Boulder Bay. This Bay is distinctive in the small boulders which are strewn across it. This shallow pebbly beach is secluded and quite beautiful in its peaceful isolation.

Directions:  The track starts from the southern end of the Kianinny Bay picnic area and rises steeply before heading south through dense bushland and across several gullies before descending down into Boulder Bay.

Facilities:  None

GAMES BAY
This is a deep small bay which is protected on both sides by slabs of volcanic rock and makes a perfect place for not only scuba diving and exploring the marine life but also for bush-walking.   Although isolated this is a uniquely beautiful spot. Games Bay can be accessed from White Rock and the Kangarutha Walking track can be picked up near the end of White Rock Road which comes off the Tathra Road about a kilometre out of Tathra.
